But an act of greedy betrayal by the yakuza leads to Denji's brutal, untimely death, crushing all hope of him ever achieving happiness.

Because Denji's new abilities pose a significant risk to society, the Public Safety Bureau's elite devil hunter Makima takes him in, letting him live as long as he obeys her command. Guided by the promise of a content life alongside an attractive woman, Denji devotes everything and fights with all his might to make his naive dreams a reality.
Anime Review: Chainsaw Man
If you’re looking for a surreal, flamboyant, and sometimes gory ride through an anime series, then let me welcome you to Chainsaw Man. Chainsaw Man presents a curious blend of action, horror, and dark humor that’s set in a world of demons, devil hunters, and loads of mystery. The storyline is so deliciously twisted, it’s almost refreshing how unpredictable it is. It’s a definite must-watch and today, I’ll be taking you through this rollercoaster without giving away any spoilers.
Our main character is Denji, a young man riddled with a colossal debt left by his late father. He struggles to survive along with his pet devil dog, Pochita. Things start dramatically when Pochita, who can morph into chainsaw machinery, turns into a heart to save Denji’s life. This transformation later helps Denji to turn into…yes, you guessed it, a Chainsaw Man. What follows is a raw, bloody yet hilarious journey into fighting devils, protecting the weak and of course, enjoying toast with butter and jam!
Animation Quality
One of the series’ biggest strength is its stunning animation quality. Chainsaw Man was brought to life by the team at MAPPA studio and they’ve done an absolutely fantastic job. The attention to detail, visual effects, and the fluidity of action scenes truly stand out. Everything from the character movements to the colossal and explosive battle scenes are incredibly crisp and detailed. This anime is a visual feast that will keep your eyes glued to the screen.
Character Development
Chainsaw Man offers a unique set of characters, all special in their own dark, weird and often disturbing ways. Denji himself is an outlandish personality; a blend of naivety, straightforwardness, bravery, and moments of stupendous dumbness. The supporting cast is also developed well within the confines of this one season, with special mention to Power, Denji’s fellow devil hunter, and Makima, the enigmatic devil control division head.
Sound & Music
The background score, sound effects, and the peppy yet eerie opening theme add the cherry on top of this bizarre but thoroughly enjoyable cake. The music complements the wild switching moods within episodes and brilliantly underscores the series’ dynamic fight scenes. Particularly, the chainsaw revving sound every time Denji transforms is sure to give you goosebumps!
