The beautifully animated and vivid visuals are a real treat, illuminating the essence of the characters and the environment they inhabit.
The narrative structure embodies the epitome of casualness, promoting free-flowing dialogues and a nonlinear storyline whilst maintaining the quintessence of the anime’s slice-of-life genre. The calm, warm, and joyous atmosphere that Yuru Yuri is famous for is intact in this series that will make you feel relaxed, as if spending time with old friends. The episodes perfectly encapsulate the joys, silliness, and even the moments of somber quiet that come as part and parcel of friendship.
As always, the strength of Yuru Yuri Nachuyachumi!+ lies in its characters. They are not just flat 2D personas, but they develop and grow on their own, all while remaining incredibly entertaining and endearing. From Yui’s calmness and Akari’s kind-hearted nature to Chinatsu’s infatuation with Yui and finally Kyoko’s flamboyance, each character has their unique trait which blends with the others splendidly, forming an entertaining mix of personalities.
Sound design is perfectly on point. Both the opening and ending music does a great job setting and wrapping up the show, respectively, whilst the background score throughout the episodes often adds a whole new layer that elevates the overall experience. The sound effects are also used to great comedic effect, adding a punchline or emphasis where necessary.
