The second movie in the Washio Sumi no Shou trilogy.
Review: Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shou 2 – Tamashii
Right-o friends, today we’re diving head-first into the intense world of “Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shou 2 – Tamashii”, or for my fellow English speakers, “Yuki Yuna is a Hero: The Washio Sumi Chapter 2 – Soul”. Before we get into the nitty-gritty, let’s lay down a quick overview, promise I’m keeping it spoiler-free!
In a world where humanity has been pushed to the brink by the enigmatic, destructive “Vertex,” our protagonist, a middle school girl named Washio Sumi, is drafted along with fellow students, Nogi Sonoko and Minowa Gin, to fight for humanity’s survival as part of a specialized “Hero Club”. Tasked with the role of protecting the Shinju, the god-tree that gives humanity its remaining prosperity and protection, their lives take a drastic turn from ordinary school kids to brave defenders of mankind.
The story in the second season builds on this foundation, escalating the stakes, deepening character relationships, and adding several unexpected twists. But that’s enough of that for now, let’s get into that juicy review!
Character Development and Plot – Grade B+
We’ve got three main heroines here, folks, and I’ve got to say, their personal growth throughout Tamashii is commendable. The writers for “Washio Sumi no Shou 2 – Tamashii” really take the time to develop our young heroes to the fullest, revealing their personal desires, fears and, yes, their charming quirks (looking at you Gin, you competitive spirit!).
To say the plot deepens in this second instalment would be an understatement. It takes us through an emotional roller coaster that is bound to pull at your heartstrings. Trust me, the interactions among the characters take on such layered complexity you would think you’re watching a high-budget drama!
Animation and Sound – Grade A-
Guys! The animation and sound design in this series deserves a standing ovation. The fighting sequences are remarkable, with vibrant colors, fluid movements, and vertex attacks that take ‘epic’ to a whole new dimension. Not to mention, the background scores and sound effects do a stellar job of enhancing the mood and tone of each scene.
Overall Impression – Grade A
At the end of the day, “Yuuki Yuuna wa Yuusha de Aru: Washio Sumi no Shou 2 – Tamashii” offers an engaging storyline, well-fleshed characters and spectacular audio-visual experience. This anime definitely feels like a labour of love, one that doesn’t just rely on its fantastical components but also rings true on the emotional and moral fronts.
So in conclusion, would I recommend this for rent, buy, or stream? Absolutely yes! If you’re a fan of high-stakes action, character drama, and a shoujo series that doesn’t just play the field but changes the game – this is your ticket to ride!
