M.D. Geist 2: Death Force
First of all, if you haven't seen the first MD Geist then you won't have a clue as to what the heck is going on in this sequel. If you have seen the first one, then you might be curious to find out what happened. To save you the time and money of finding out, I'll just spoil it for you here (that's a good thing people, trust me ^_^).
Mr. Geist has kindly launched the "death force" program (as seen at the end of the first MD Geist) which sends out hundreds of nasty robots hell-bent on trashing ever living thing they encounter. So humanity, already struggling for survival, is now even worse off. The story then shifts focus to Krauser, who is the ruler and protector of the last surviving humans. However, you'll hate him almost as much as Geist because this guy has a big ego problem. So Geist and those robots show up, all hell breaks loose, and in the end lots of people (including Geist and Krauser) die. Big friggin' whoop. My cat could've coughed up a better story.
In the tradition of the MD Geist saga, this movie features characters you either hate or could care less about, no plot worth speaking of, and lots of really lame action. The only crowning achievement of this title is Geist's death. I suppose if you're a fan of gore you'll enjoy watching human viscera splatter here and there, but that's a pretty thin reason to watch this movie.
The art was pretty much average and the animation was poor. The dubbing wasn't very good, but any decent voice actors would've wasted their time with this movie.
There's an unwritten rule that the sequel is never as good as the original. As bad as the first MD Geist was, MD Geist 2 is even worse, and qualifies as one of the worst anime I've ever seen.
The Verdict: * (awful)
