The narrative crafts a wonderful balance of tense survival-horror, layered character development, and thought-provoking motifs about life and death.
From lush landscapes to beastly creatures, the artwork is simply mind-blowingly spectacular! Each scene pulses with raw, untamed energy that indelibly engraves itself on your mind. As for our grim protagonist, Gabimaru, he presents a refreshing, complex character arc that quite noticeably veers off typical shounen anti-heroes.
Although the anime leans heavily into limb-severing, blood-spewing action, it would be a terrible injustice to label Jigokuraku as purely action-horror.
