REVIEW

From the onset, the BanG Dream! Movie: Episode of Roselia – II: Song I Am, greets the audience with its high-energy music and dynamic animation style. What begins as a mere idol-girl band-based plot, blossoms into a story layered with depth, character development, and indeed lots of heart. The artwork throughout the movie is vibrant, colorful, and aesthetically pleasing. This visual spectacle is wonderfully correlated with the movie’s thrilling sound design.

The narrative is beautifully structured around each of the five band members. The viewer gets to see their internal struggles while heartily rooting for their triumphs throughout the anime. The progression and development of their individual story arcs are paced incredibly well, offering an insightful, engaging, and emotional tug at the heartstrings. Even without spoiling anything, it’s safe to say that the narrative handling of their doubts, aspirations, and friendships is masterfully done and makes for a compelling watch.

The soundtrack is by far one of the standout features of the anime. Backed by the actual musicians who have lent the voices to the characters, the songs are genuinely resonant and add a unique flair to the movie. Each song seamlessly flows into the narrative, creating a genuinely immersive viewing experience that is both emotional and uplifting.

Animation quality is consistently high, which is, of course, expected from studio SANZIGEN.
